Here are the answers to our most commonly asked questions.

  • VisitWales Gold awarded unique accommodation five minutes from the coast, you won’t find a glamping site quite like ours closer to the beaches of West Wales.

Space and peace, we don’t accept large adult groups and our accommodation is dotted across the meadows.

Private bathrooms at your accommodation, no trudging across the field to find your shower or toilet in the dark.

Hotel quality bedlinens, pillows, duvets, made up ready for your stay.

Proper four ring gas hob, no having to light a fire to heat some water for a cup of tea, or struggling to cook for a family over a one burner camping stove.

Essentials such as pots, pans, crockery, kitchen implements along with tea towels, scrubbies, dish cloths, washing up liquid and hand wash etc.

Fully licensed, insured and accredited accommodation meeting the highest industry safety standards (Fire risk assessed, gas safe certified, and HETAS regulated log burner installations), wherever you choose to stay do make sure they have this, it’s so important and where some sites cut corners.

  • You should just be able to turn up and everything you need to have a great holiday will be there but...

It is worth bringing some wellies as dewy grass in the morning can be wetter than you think and no-one wants to start the day with damp trainers.

The weather is British! So no matter what time of the year you're coming we recommend being prepared for rain and shine. Layering is the key…

A hat is a good idea if you are planning to sit outside on an autumn evening.

If you are coming early or late in the year, hot water bottles, slippers or thick socks to keep your toes cosy inside.

A few extra torches are handy, and some spare batteries. We provide lamps but there is no ambient lighting around the farm at night so a good torch is great for finding your way and making sure you don’t step on a frog in your flip flops.

A couple of extra boxes of matches, someone always misplaces the lighters we provide and you don’t want to be flameless as night draws in.

Evenings are longer without the distraction of TV and internet so some games to play as a family are always a good idea and bring along your favourite books to read by lamplight.

  • Private bathrooms at your accommodation, no trudging across the field to find your shower or toilet in the dark.

We think a hot shower is crucial after a day out on the beach, all of our showers supply a limitless amount of hot water (no searching for coins to put in a meter which runs out just when you have got your shampoo in) and all of our toilets are modern flushing variety.

  • We supply all bed linen but please do bring your own bath, beach towels and tea towels. If you are bringing your pet with you, please also bring any towels or blankets that may be required for them.

  • Our lodges and cabins are weatherproof, windproof and made of thick protective canvas or locally sourced wood to keep the warmth in without shutting the sounds of nature out.

There’s a high output log burner which soon gets it warm if it’s a chilly night.

Each is equipped with superwarm duvets and cosy blankets but if you are coming early or late in the year warm pyjamas are always a good idea for bedtime along with a hot water bottle to keep your toes toasty.

  • Dogs are always welcome by arrangement at Sloeberry Farm. There is a small fee and dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times and please clean up all dog mess straight away so another guest doesn’t stand in it.

  • In our opinion campfires are a key part of camping, Be it baking potatoes or toasting marshmallows as the stars start to twinkle, the camp fire becomes the centrepiece of your evening.

Each lodge and cabin has its own fire pit with access to a good supply of firewood which you can buy daily on site.

We ask all guests not to collect any firewood from the ground as fallen branches and decaying trees help to maintain a healthy and vibrant ecosystem which enhance your interactions with nature, also it’s often really difficult to light and the last thing you want is to be standing around a smouldering smoky log rather than a crackling campfire

We source our camp firewood locally from sustainably managed woodlands.

  • We think we have provided all of the crockery, pans, knives, spatulas, can openers, chopping boards etc.

Each Lodge and Cabin has a dedicated fridge located in the shelter by the car park. These have a small freezer compartment if you would like to bring your own cold blocks.

  • We like to keep the meadows car free, as it is safer for everyone and better for the animals that live there. But you can park your car nearby, and you will be able to transport your luggage in our specially designed Sloeberry Farm oversized wheelbarrows.

  • One of the unique features of Sloeberry Farm compared to other glamping sites is the feeling of space, tranquillity and the freedom for children to explore. To protect this we limit the number of people that are here at any time. We feel that additional guests would upset this balance so we do not allow additional visitors at any time.

  • We provide a separate BBQ and cast iron fire pit for use outside, and restaurant grade charcoal is part of your arrival pack.

These are the only BBQ's we allow on site as they are designed to be safer in a glamping environment.

  • No fireguard is 100% safe so we prefer guests to keep a close eye on their children around the fires, BBQ's and wood burning stoves and make sure they don’t go too close, but you’re welcome to bring one from home that you are familiar with.

  • Sloeberry Farm is a mains electricity free experience so as well as having slightly frizzy hair, there’s no internet, TV, email or games consoles to be distracted by.

There is low level electric lighting inside, so enjoy the experience of chatting to each other by lamplight, of long nights snuggled in a blanket lulled by the sounds of the logs crackling on an open fire, trying to spot a hedgehog snuffle by.

Each lodge or cabin has access to a dedicated charging locker which is perfect for topping up small devices.

  • Departure is 10:00, please try and be prompt. It's uncomfortable for everyone having the cleaners hanging around. You will need to take down any rubbish and place in designated large collection bins, strip the beds, ensure the washing up is done and the BBQ wiped.

Don’t forget to roll up the blinds so you can check in the corners to make sure you haven’t left anything.

Safety, Security & Sustainability.

  • We try to limit our impact on both the local and wider environment, you'll encounter a lot of upcycling at Sloeberry Farm, for instance our lighting is all powered by solar, our furniture is constructed using recycled scaffold boards and even our new corner chesterfields are made by a craftsman re-configuring two worn leather vintage items to form one amazing corner sofa.

The tap water here tastes great so please don't feel the need to transport bottled water from home. We sell a limited number of Sloeberry Farm Water bottles in the honesty shop so you can refill daily to stay hydrated on your walks.

All of our firewood is sourced from a local FSC certified supplier, guaranteeing not only its heat output but that it comes from a sustainable source.

Our wood fired hot tubs don't have chemicals, the natural properties of the wood help keep them clean and the water is changed with each new group, avoiding the use of harsh treatments to stop the build up of bugs.

We provide full recycling facilities, please bag up your mixed recycling and place in the relevant bins and separate glass into the marked containers.

  • At Sloeberry Farm full risk assessments have been completed and all accommodation has been checked by a certified Fire Risk Assessor. All accommodation is supplied with fire blankets, smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, we have also had fire escapes specially fitted into the rear of our Safari Lodges.

  • Our log burners are installed, maintained and certified by HETAS installers and certified as being compliant for installation in a building (even though this isn't strictly necessary as a glamping doesn't classify as a structure for HETAS installation, we think it should do!)

Safe operation of the log burners is the reason only logs supplied by Sloeberry Farm can be burnt onsite, it ensures that the burn is clean and the flue doesn’t soot up through use of incorrect fuel.

The log burners are easy to light and simple to use but guests will be given instruction on safe use of the log burner.

  • A hot shower and cup of tea are crucial after a day out on the beach, so we have gas powered showers which supply piping hot water and gas hobs in the accommodation. Both of these items have been installed and certified by a GasSafe engineer.

  • For the safety and security of our guests and team, day visitors are not permitted at Sloeberry Farm.

  • There are plenty of areas to explore on the property, we want everyone to have fun but if you have children or pets please supervise them at all times, there are steep drops, deep water and all the hazards found on a working farm.

We’re sorry but kite flying is not allowed in any form in the meadows due to the overhead electricity power lines which a kite could get tangled in and cause significant injury, there are plenty of great beaches nearby where the breeze is great for kite flying.

Sloeberry Farm meadow is a car-free space to make it less disruptive on the plants and animals who live here and to make it safer and quieter for guests. The carpark is a short walk away and there are wheelbarrows to transport your belongings to your accommodation.
